I did this article over 2 years ago. It was in the Jan/Feb 2004 News Letter.
The brace has been on my Sprint since then. The braces are the same for 65-70 Mustangs.

Step 1

OK, here's the jest of it. First step is to cut the arms off. It dosen't matter where. I would recommend somewhere in the middle.

Step 2

The brace bolts on top of the firewall seam on the Mustang. Ours bolt underneath. Measure how much overhang your car has and draw a line across the brace adding about 1/4". The ends have to be hammered down flat. Do not just cut them off. You need the extra width to span the distance for the mounting holes. A set of tourches makes this pretty easy. Just heat them till they are cherry red and flatten them down.

Step 3

Weld the original holes closed and smooth out the welds. Test fit it under the firewall and make sure it sits flat against the seam. A little tweeking might be needed.

Step4

Clamp the brace to the firewall and add the shock tower ends. Let them overlap. Put a piece of masking tape across the bottom section and draw a line. Remove and cut. Test fit back together and make sure it all lines up. At this point I tack welded the ends back on while everything is on the car. Its easier that way to keep everything lined up. Then its just a matter of welding the seam and smoothing out the welds.

Step 5

Clamp the brace back on the car and mark the holes on the firewall mount. You can either drill them on the car or mark them and remove the brace for drilling. I got a drill bit the same size as the hole and just drilled a small indention in each mounting hole, then removed it for the final drilling. Now its just a matter of finishing it out for painting.
